Case study A national association of independent Australian law firms

Secure member portal delivery for a national legal network

I coordinated the delivery of a public website and secure member portal for a national legal network, from wireframes and QA through launch, rollout and infrastructure handover.

The problem

A national association of independent Australian law firms had an outdated public site and member portal. Members needed a secure, mobile-friendly place to share precedents, policies, conference material and financial reports, with access based on seniority.

The public site needed to establish credibility and help visitors find a member firm by state. The member experience needed role-based access, a resources library, request-for-information workflow, events and a restricted reports archive.

What I did

As Digital Producer, I ran day-to-day delivery and acted as the main client contact from wireframes through to launch, post-launch support, infrastructure handover and Stage 2 scoping.

I built the public-site wireframes in Figma, coordinated design feedback and helped steer imagery when initial legal photography felt generic or unsuitable. During development, I QA’d the public site and portal against the designs, translated client feedback into prioritised change lists and ran the client portal walkthrough.

I coordinated the launch checklist, board review access, Search Console setup, reCAPTCHA, member onboarding and the handover of precedent files and tagging rules for bulk import. I also helped coordinate ownership transfers for the hosting, database and authentication services when they had been held in a contractor’s accounts.

The result

The public site launched in May 2026, with the portal rolled out after further refinements and member-firm onboarding. The client and board approved the designs, and the portal moved into day-to-day member use.

The public site’s organic Search clicks roughly doubled between June and October 2026, although the absolute numbers remained small because the site exists primarily as a credibility and member-service platform rather than a lead generator.
